Academic illiteracy among some faculty members in Egyptian universities "a study of the views of some education experts"

Abstract

The current study aimed to identify the scientific significance of the phenomenon of academic illiteracy among faculty members in Egyptian universities from the point of view of some education experts, by identifying the dimensions of this phenomenon, its characteristics, the factors causing it, and its repercussions on the performance of faculty members, and presenting several proposed recommendations that can be implemented to confront this problem. phenomenon.
 
      The current study used the procedures of the descriptive approach, given its suitability to the nature of the study, using the Delphi method, which was prepared, codified, and applied to a sample of some education experts in Egyptian universities, to identify the features of the phenomenon of academic illiteracy in the academic community in Egyptian universities from their point of view. Teaching staff in some theoretical and practical faculties in Egyptian universities (educational - non-educational) Where the data was collected according to the opinions of the experts in three rounds, where the selection took place on (35) experts before applying the procedures of the first round, and after the application, the opinions of the experts were collected, where the responses of (20) experts were collected, as the two researchers did not obtain responses (15). ) an expert, and thus the research sample, which continued to communicate through the (Delphi) method with its three rounds, became (20) experts.
The study concluded that education experts acknowledge the existence of the phenomenon of academic illiteracy among some faculty members in Egyptian universities, as it appears from their responses that resulted in the application of the Delphi method in its three rounds. Academicism among faculty members in Egyptian universities, its causes, manifestations, reflections, and methods of confronting it. The study presented a set of proposed recommendations to overcome the phenomenon of academic illiteracy among faculty members in Egyptian universities.
