The Effectiveness of a Counseling Program based on a Clint-Centered Therapy in Improving Self-Concept Among Juvenile Delinquents at the Social Observation House in Jazan

Abstract

This study aimed at detecting the effectiveness of a counseling program based on a client-centered therapy  in improving self-concept among juvenile delinquents at the Social Observation House in Jazan. To achieve this goal, a counseling program based on a client-centered therapy and self-concept scale were designed. The study sample consisted of (20) cases divided into two groups (experimental - control) each of which consisted of (10) cases of delinquents at the Social Observation House in Jazan, Saudi Arabia, using semi-experimental method. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups on the post- measurement of self-concept among juvenile delinquents at the Social Observation House in Jazan. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the pre- and post- measurements of the experimental group on the scale of self-concept among juvenile delinquents at the Social Observation House in Jazan. Moreover, there were no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the post- and follow-up measurements of the experimental group on the scale of self-concept among juvenile delinquents at the Social Observation House in Jazan.
