Abstract

The current research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Cube strategy in teaching social studies on developing the historical thinking skills of the third preparatory grade students, and The researcher followed the analytical descriptive approach and the experimental approach with a semi-experimental design, he research materials were identified in the list of historical thinking skills required for third year middle school students, the student's handbook, and the teacher's guide for the unit "Egypt, Colonial Encroachment and Attempts at National Liberation" and formulated according to the cube strategy, The research tool was represented in testing the skills of historical thinking, and the research experiment was applied according to the experimental design with two groups (one experimental and the second a control subject to two measurements before and after), and their number reached (60) students at the “Abdul Sabour Abdel Rahman Al-Gablawy” joint preparatory school affiliated to the Aswan Education Administration, The current research found that there is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the students of the experimental group and the control group in the post application of the test of historical thinking skills in favor of the students of the experimental group, This confirms the effectiveness of the cube strategy in teaching social studies on developing the historical thinking skills of the third preparatory grade students in the field of teaching the selected unit, The recommendations of the research came with the need to pay attention to the strategy of the cube in teaching social studies in the preparatory stage in order to overcome the difficulties encountered in learning this subject, and to achieve educational goals that are difficult to achieve by traditional teaching methods.
