Abstract

The study aimed to identify the causes of weak historical thinking skills among female students from the viewpoint of female teachers and provide some solutions to them. Action Research was used through a questionnaire that was applied to (21) social studies teachers in Qassim region. It was concluded that the reasons for the weak historical thinking skills attributed to female students came in the first rank, and the reasons related to the prescribed curriculum came in the second rank, while the reasons related to female teachers came in the third rank. The study also provided some solutions for the weak historical thinking skills of the students. The teachers give the students the opportunity to ask questions about the topic of the lesson. The need to change the idea that history is only a matter of memorization and understanding has no role in it.
