Abstract

The aim of the current research is to identify the concepts of sustainable development that should be included in the content of chemistry books at the secondary stage (course system) in light of the goals of sustainable development 2030, and to reveal the extent to which they are included in the content of the energy unit and chemical changes of those books, and to develop the unit in light of that. To achieve these goals, the research followed the descriptive analytical approach. For this, a card was prepared for content analysis, which included a list of proposed concepts and their indicators. One of the most prominent results that was reached was the scarcity of including scientific concepts related to sustainable development in chemistry books for the secondary level, the course system. In light of this, some concepts were suggested to be included in the content of the research sample books. Including: concepts of renewable energy, energy efficiency and its devices, clean industries, clean energy, energy production from waste, and pollution and its reduction. The research also presented a developed unit in energy and chemical changes based on these results.
