Abstract

The present study aimed at developing listening skills among non-Arabic speaking children at B-1 Level by using a program based on the digital stories. In order to achieve this objective, a list of listening skills and a test were developed by the present study researcher. The test was pre-administered on a sample of seven children at Educational Nile Centre for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers at Nasr City, Cairo. The pre-application of the test showed that the children level in listening skills was low. That was why a learner's booklet and a teacher's handbook for teaching listening skills at B-1 Level were developed by using a program based on digital stories. In order to measure the suggested program effectiveness, the listening skills were taught and then the test was post-applied to the study sample. The findings showed that there was a statistically significant difference at 0.05 between the scores rank means of children in the pre-application and the post-application on the listening test at B-1 Level as a whole. That shows that the suggested program based on the digital stories was effective in developing the listening skills among non-Arabic speaking children.
