A training program based on an electronic geographic sign dictionary using blended learning strategies to develop descriptive sign language and visual communication skills among student teachers, Geography Division for Teaching Deaf Students

Abstract

The research aimed to develop descriptive sign language skills for geographical concepts; And developing visual communication skills for student teachers in the Geography Division for teaching deaf students through a training program based on an electronic indicative geographical dictionary using blended learning strategies. The research materials are a list of geographic concepts included in the social studies curricula in preparatory vocational education; A list of descriptive references to those concepts; A list of descriptive sign language skills and a list of visual communication skills. An electronic sign language dictionary , the training program and its guide were prepared. The research tools, are: a test for the acquisition of descriptive signs for electronic, illustrated geographical concepts; It represents the cognitive aspect of descriptive sign language skills for geographical concepts, and a note card on descriptive sign language performance skills; It represents the practical aspect of descriptive sign language skills, and a note card for visual communication skills. The research sample consisted from (15) students. The results of the research concluded that there was a great effectiveness of the training program in: developing achievement, amounting to (0.897). Developing performance skills amounted to (0.891), and developing visual communication skills amounted to (0.876).
