Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of a training program based on Goleman's model in developing emotional intelligence skills among students of the Faculty of Technological Engineering. The study was conducted on a sample of 49 students, including 28 males and 21 females, aged between 18-22 years, who were purposively selected from a population of 6150 students (1230 female students and 4920 male students). They were divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control group, with 27 and 22 students respectively, with means of 21.63 and 20.18 and standard deviations of 1.45 and 1.68 respectively. The quasi-experimental method was used, and the researcher prepared both the training program and the emotional intelligence scale. The students were divided into two groups: the experimental group was exposed to the training program, while the control group was not. The emotional intelligence scale was applied to both the experimental and control groups before and after the implementation of the program during the second semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The results indicated the effectiveness of the training program, showing differences between the experimental and control groups in favor of the experimental group on the emotional intelligence scale and academic achievement.
