Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the level of field training candidate teachers' knowledge of green Hydrogen and its relationship to their attitudes towards it at the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University for the academic year 2023/2024. To achieve the objectives of the study, a knowledge test was built consisting of (25) phrases distributed on three axes, and a scale to measure their attitudes towards green hydrogen consisting of (32) phrases distributed on three axes. The validity of both test and scale confirmed by a group of experts and specialists, and the reliability was calculated using the coefficient Cronbach’s Alpha. The reliability of the knowledge test was (0.655), while the reliability of the attitudes scale towards green hydrogen was (0.922). The study sample consisted of (64) male and female candidate teachers from the field training program at the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University. The study found that the level of knowledge of field training candidates about green hydrogen was low, while the level of their attitudes towards green hydrogen was high. Furthermore, the results showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of knowledge of Field training candidates about green hydrogen and their attitudes concerning gender variables. In addition, the findings showed a positive and statistically significant correlation between the level of knowledge of field training candidates with green hydrogen and their attitudes towards it among field training candidates at the College of Education at Sultan Qaboos University. In light of the results, the study recommends developing programs for the preparation of field training candidates to keep pace with the rapid developments and updates in the field of renewable energy in general and green hydrogen energy in particular. Also, the study recommended including courses that are in line with trends in modern global science in pre-service teacher preparation programs.
