A Proposed Vision for Developing the Professional Performance of Faculty ‎Members at Egyptian Universities in Light of the Principles of Continuous ‎Learning

Abstract

     This research aimed to develop the professional performance of faculty members at Egyptian universities in light of the principles of continuous learning. The research used the descriptive approach and relied on a questionnaire consisting of (31) statements divided into two axes; the first axis: included (17) statements related to the requirements for developing the professional performance of faculty members in light of the principles of continuous learning, and the second axis: included (14) statements related to the challenges of developing the professional performance of faculty members. It was applied to a sample of (160) faculty members in some theoretical and practical faculties at Cairo University; this number included (108) members in theoretical faculties, which are: the Faculty of Graduate Studies for Education, the Faculty of Early Childhood Education, and the Faculty of Arts, representing (67.5%) of the research sample, and (52) members in practical faculties, which are: the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Agriculture, representing (32.5%) of the research sample. The results showed that the overall average value of faculty members' responses on the first axis, which is related to the degree of importance of the requirements for developing the professional performance of faculty members in light of the principles of continuous learning, was (4.34) with a standard deviation of (0.786) and a very high degree of importance. The overall average value of faculty members' responses on the second axis, which is related to the degree of challenges to develop their professional performance, reached (3.77) with a standard deviation of (1.01) and a high degree of existence. In light of the research results, a proposed vision was presented to develop the professional performance of faculty members at Egyptian universities in light of the principles of continuous learning.
