Attitudes of faculty members at Al-Azhar University towards ‎implementing parallel education‎ system at the university

Abstract

The current study aimed to reveal the attitudes of faculty members at Al-Azhar University towards applying the parallel education system at the university, by identifying the concept of parallel education, its objectives, and characteristics. The study used the descriptive survey method and depend on the questionnaire as a tool for collecting data, as it included four main axes: the objectives of the parallel education system, admission and registration policies in the parallel education system, specializations and curricula in the parallel education system, financing of parallel education system programs, and the questionnaire was applied on a sample of (371) faculty members at Al-Azhar University; The study reached several results, the most important of which are: the presence of positive attitudes among the study sample regarding the application of the parallel education system at the university with an arithmetic mean of (2.79 out of 3) and a standard deviation of (0.270), and the absence of statistically significant differences between the responses of the sample members to the questionnaire as a whole and its sub-axes according to the variables: gender and specialization, while differences were found according to the variable of the administrative position (occupies - does not occupy) on the questionnaire as a whole and its axes: the second, third and fourth in favor of "does not occupy", while there were no differences at the level of the first axis, and according to the variable of the academic degree (professor - assistant professor - lecturer There were no statistically significant differences at the level of the questionnaire as a whole and on its first and fourth axes, while differences were found at the level of the second and third axes in favor of the teacher category. The study recommended a set of practical mechanisms and procedures through which the parallel education system can be implemented at Al-Azhar University.
