Abstract

This study aimed to explore Islamic approach in addressing sexual deviations and the requirements for deepening the role of Al-Azhar preparatory institutes in raising awareness among students. The study employed a descriptive methodology and used two questionnaires for data collection. It was conducted on a sample of 468 preparatory students to assess their awareness of Islamic methods for dealing with sexual deviations, both preventively and therapeutically, and 138 teachers and scholars from preparatory institutes to identify the necessary requirements for enhancing the role of these institutes in raising students’ awareness. The findings revealed that the students’ awareness of Islamic preventive approaches to sexual deviations was moderate, while their awareness of therapeutic approaches was low. Results indicated that the overall awareness of Al-Azhar preparatory students regarding Islamic methodology in dealing with sexual deviations was moderate in both the preventive and therapeutic aspects. Statistically significant differences were found in responses based on gender, favoring females; grade level, favoring third-grade students; and governorate, favoring students from Sohag Governorate. Additionally, the teachers and scholars expressed high approval of the requirements necessary to enhance the role of Al-Azhar preparatory institutes in promoting students’ awareness of Islamic methodologies in addressing sexual deviations in both preventive and therapeutic aspects. Statistically significant differences were found in responses based on educational qualifications, favoring those with educational degrees, and specialization, favoring those with Sharia expertise. However, no significant differences were found based on the governorate.
