The effectiveness of K.W.L.H strategy in developing critical thinking skills and attitude toward teaching among the students of one-year general diploma in education

Abstract

The study aimed at identifying the effectiveness of the K.W.L.H strategy in developing critical thinking and attitude toward teaching among the students of the general diploma in Faculty of Education Minia University. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher used the quasi-experimental method, prior and post measurement design, for one group. The researcher taught two courses using K.W.L.H: Individual Differences and Psychological Measurement, to (45) male and female students of the one-year general diploma, the sample of the study. The California test of critical thinking image (2000) and the measure of the attitude toward the teaching profession both have been applied to the sample before and after the experiment. The study revealed a statistical difference between the average scores of pre-application and post-application of the critical thinking skills and attitude toward teaching in favor of post-application. It is also found that using the strategy of K.W.L.H in developing critical thinking and attitude toward teaching has high impact. According to the findings, the study suggests many recommendations.
