The effectiveness of Marzano's model of learning dimensions in developing mathematical proficiency in mathematics
"Applied to tenth-grade students in Palestine"
The study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of Marzano's Dimensions of Learning model in developing mathematical proficiency among tenth-grade students in Palestine. To achieve the research objectives, the researchers employed a quasi-experimental design. The study sample consisted of 80 tenth-grade male students, intentionally selected from Misbah Abu Hanak Secondary School in the Hebron Directorate of Education. The sample was divided into two groups: an experimental group of 40 students who were taught the second unit, "Exponents and Logarithms," using Marzano's Dimensions of Learning model, and a control group of 40 students who were taught the same content using the traditional method. The research tools included a teaching plan based on the Dimensions of Learning model and a mathematical proficiency test, both developed by the researchers. The results of the study revealed the following: There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the post-application of the mathematical proficiency test in mathematics. In light of these findings, the researchers recommend extending the application period of the model to ensure the full effectiveness of its interventions on the dependent variables. Previous studies have demonstrated the model's effectiveness, suggesting that its impact is enhanced over time.
