Extension program for the development of emotional intelligence among primary school students in Qunfudah

Abstract

The study aimed at identify the effectiveness of counseling program for developing emotional intelligence among primary school pupils in qunfudah governorate. To achieve this goal, the study was followed by the experimental method, then a sample consisted from 34 students randomly selected, and were divided into two equal groups, experimental and control group. The study tools included the counseling program ((By: the researcher), which was exposed to the experimental group only, and the scale of emotional intelligence (By: the researcher), where the validity and reliability was verified and then applied to the both study groups. By using the appropriate statistical methods, the results of the existence of statistically significant differences were found at the level of (α ≤ 0.05) among the average scores of the experimental group members in pre& posttest for emotional intelligence scale in favor of posttest, and there were statistically significant differences at the level of (α ≤ 0.05) among experimental and control groups in posttest for emotional intelligence scale in favor of experimental group, while there weren't statistically significant differences at the level of (α ≤ 0.05) among the average scores of the experimental group members in posttest& follow test for emotional intelligence scale. Which indicates the effectiveness of the counseling program used in the development of emotional intelligence in primary school students and its continued effectiveness after the follow-up period.
