Designing a program based on the functional approach to develop security & safety behaviors at (school, home and street) for the educable mentally Handicapped children

Abstract

The study aimed to develop some of the required security & safety behaviors of the educable mentally Handicapped children at ( home, school and street ) in the intellectual education schools. The experimental approach was used (the one group pretest- posttest design). The tools of the study were designed by the researcher: a checklist of the confronted dangers by the disabled children at home, school and street, a checklist of safety & security skills, the suggested program and an observation sheet of the safety & security behaviors. The sample of the study consisted of seven first grade of educable mentally Handicapped children in one of the intellectual education schools in Cairo. The results of the study indicated the effectiveness of the suggested program as there was a development in the safety and security behaviors of the disabled children
