Modeling of relationships between habits of mind, problem-solving skills, high-order thinking and psychological hardiness among university students

Abstract

The study aimed to detect the level of mind habits of university students, as well as to know the differences between males and females in the study variables, investigating the relationship between both habits of mind, problem-solving skills, high-order thinking and psychological hardness among university students, and to explore the best structural model that explains the causal relationships between mind habits as an independent variable, problem-solving skills, high-order thinking as intermediate variables, and the psychological hardness of the study sample. The sample of the basic study consisted of (485) male and female college students. They responded to the mind habits scale, the high-order thinking scale, the problem-solving skills scale and the psychological hardness scale. the students have a medium level of all mental habits and total score of mind habits. Results also indicated that there are  no significant differences between males and females in  the study variables. While,there is a positive correlation statistically significant between the scores of both habits of mind and problem-solving skills, high-order thinking and psychological hardness for College student. The results of the study showed the good-of fit of the proposed structural model with the the emperical collected data. Findings. It also revealed the direct and indirect positive causal effect of variable habits of mind on high-order thinking, problem-solving skills and psychological hardness
