A Structural Model of Relations between Social Media Addiction, Loneliness, Coronavirus Anxiety, Perceived Social Support among Students of the Faculty of Education in Assuit University

Abstract

The current research sought to verify the conformity of the structure model of the relationships between Social Media Addiction, Loneliness, Coronavirus Anxiety, and Perceived Social Support among students in the faculty of education in University of Assuit. The current research aimed to test the predictive probability of  Loneliness, Coronavirus Anxiety, and Perceived Social Support with Social Media Addiction among students in the faculty of education. The main sample were (104:96 Female,   6 male, Mean Age=21.67; SD=0.77) from fourth year. The current research included USLA Loneliness Scale, Coronavirus Anxiety Scale, Multidimensional Scale of perceived Social Support, and Social Media Addiction Scale-Student Form. The results of regression analysis indicated that Loneliness exceeded other variables(Coronavirus Anxiety, and Perceived Social Support) in predicting with Social Media Addiction. The results of path analysis revealed that goodness of fit indicators were acceptable and matching with the hypothesized model. The Researcher formulated number of recommendations according to research results.
