The effectiveness of a selective integrative counseling program in reducing cognitive distortions and improving academic resilience among postgraduate students at Al-Arish University. (clinical psychometric study)

Abstract

    The current research aimed to verify the effectiveness of a selective, integrative counseling program in reducing cognitive distortions and improving academic resilience among postgraduate students at the Faculty of Education, University of Arish. (clinical psychometric study), The main research sample consisted of (34) male and female students, who were divided equally between two groups, one experimental and the other control, between the ages of (23-41 years) With a mean age of (25.4) years and a standard deviation of (2.16). The current research used the scale of cognitive distortions among postgraduate students (prepared by the researcher), the scale of academic resilience among postgraduate students (prepared by the researcher), the counseling program (prepared by the researcher), the clinical interview form (prepared by the researcher), and the subject understanding test for adults "T.A.T" (T.A.T). The results of the research found that there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups on the scale of cognitive distortions among postgraduate students in the post-measurement (in the better direction) in favor of the experimental group, and there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the two pre-tests. There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups on the scale of academic resilience among postgraduate students in the post-measurement (in the better direction) in favor of the experimental group. And the presence of statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post measurements on the scale of academic resilience among postgraduate students (in the better direction) in favor of the post measurement, and the absence of statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the experimental group on the scales of cognitive distortions and academic resilience Postgraduate students in the post and follow-up measurements, the researcher presented a number of recommendations and proposals research.
