Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of Academic Identity Patterns and Decision-Making Styles, and Discovering the ability of Identity Patterns to predict Decision-Making Styles, and to identify differences in the level of Identity Patterns and Decision-Making Styles according to gender and academic specialization. The study sample was limited to (398) male and female students from Shaqra University, They were distributed, according to the gender variable, to (181) males and (217) females, and according to the specialization variable, there were (211) scientific and (187) human. the correlational (predictive) comparative method was used. By designing the identity patterns scale and the decision-making methods scale, and applying them to the sample, the study found several results, most notably: The results showed that the level of Achieved Identity was high (3.91), and the highest prevalence among students, followed by Moratorium Identity (3.61) at a high level, while the level of Foreclosed (3.28) and Diffused Identity (2.75) was also medium. It was found that there was a statistically significant positive correlation between Identity Patterns and Decision-Making Styles, while there was no relationship between Achieved Identity and Hesitant Style, and between Diffused Identity and the Reflectivity Style. The results showed that Decision-Making Styles can be predicted from Common Academic Identity Patterns. the results showed that there were no differences between male and female students in Identity Patterns, except for Foreclosed Identity, which showed a significant difference in favor of males. There are differences in Identity Patterns and Decision-Making Styles according to Academic Specialization.
