Abstract

Virtual reality technology is one of the modern educational design patterns that can be used effectively in developing student thinking. The research aimed to use this technology in designing educational software in the two units (Hardware - Operating Systems) of the Introduction to Computer Science course for first-year students in the Computer Science Department at the College of Arts. and sciences at the Gulf University of Science and Technology and measuring the impact of teaching using virtual reality technology on developing students’ creative thinking skills. An educational software was designed for two units of study and a test in creative thinking skills. The research used a quasi-experimental approach, where the research group consisted of (46) male and female students who were divided into It was divided into two groups ( The first control) that studied using the traditional method and the (experimental group) that studied using virtual reality technology. The research found that the students of the experimental group that studied using virtual reality technology excelled over the students of the control group that studied using the traditional method in creative thinking skills as a whole and in each subject skill separately. The study recommended activating teaching using virtual reality techniques for students of various specializations at the Gulf University of Science and Technology..
