Abstract

The present study aims to investigate post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and its relationship with psychological resilience among Sudanese women who fled the April 2023 war. The sample consisted of 101 women, ranging in age from 20 years to over 61 years, selected using a random sampling method. The highest percentage representation was recorded in the 51–60 age group, accounting for 35.6% of the total sample. To achieve the study objectives, the researcher employed a descriptive methodology using standardized scales for post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological resilience. The results indicated that the levels of PTSD dimensions were high, and the degree of psychological resilience among the sample was also high. Additionally, a significant negative (inverse) correlation was found between PTSD and psychological resilience. Furthermore, the study revealed no statistically significant differences in PTSD levels according to the variables of place of residence, age, or years of marriage. Similarly, no differences in psychological resilience were found with respect to place of residence. However, significant differences in psychological resilience were observed based on age and years of marriage among Sudanese women who fled the April 2023 war. In light of these findings, the researcher presented a number of recommendations.
