Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the effectiveness of a proposed program in science based on green education to develop awareness of contemporary environmental issues and environmental advocacy skills among students of the Faculty of Education at Al-Arish University. The current research followed the experimental method with a quasi-experimental design for one group before / after, and the research was applied to a sample of (40) male and female students from the third year students (Biology), and the research provided a number of materials and tools represented in: A list of the most important contemporary environmental issues, an achievement test to measure the cognitive aspect of scientific knowledge and concepts related to all targeted environmental issues, an environmental advocacy scale, and an environmental advocacy skills test, and the research results indicated that there is a statistically significant difference at (0.01) level in the achievement test, environmental advocacy scale and environmental advocacy skills test in the two pre and post applications in favor of the post application, and the research provided a number of recommendations, including: The need to prepare training programs for science teachers to develop awareness of contemporary environmental issues and develop environmental advocacy skills towards them, and attention to activating the role of green education strategies that help student teachers to acquire knowledge and educational experiences related to environmental issues and their effective impact on the development of environmental motivation skills towards preserving the environment.
