Abstract

The current research aimed to improve expressive language and motivation towards learning among those at risk of learning difficulties through a training program based on the interaction between social emotional learning and enjoyable learning strategies. The research sample consisted of (16) children at risk of learning difficulties, whose ages ranged between (5-6) years, with an arithmetic mean of (5.56), and a standard deviation of (0.51). They were divided into two equal groups, the first experimental, and the second control. Each group consisted of (8) children. The research tools consisted of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Test for Children (fifth edition) (translation and standardization: translation and Arabization by Safwat Farah, 2010), a battery of tests for some pre-academic skills for children as an indicator of learning difficulties (prepared by Adel Abdullah, 2006), expressive language and motivation towards learning scales (prepared by: the researcher), and a training program based on the interaction between social emotional learning and enjoyable learning strategies (prepared by: the researcher). The results showed the effectiveness of the training program based on the interaction between social emotional learning and enjoyable learning strategies in improving expressive language and motivation towards learning for the experimental group compared to the control group, and in the post-measurement for the experimental group compared to the pre-measurement. It also showed the effectiveness of the training program based on the interaction between social emotional learning and enjoyable learning strategies. This was clear in the follow-up measurement, as there were no statistically significant differences between the post-measurement and follow-up measurements.
