Abstract

The study aimed to verify the effectiveness of cognitive-analytic therapy in reducing glotophobia among stuttering university students, and to identify its impact on the quality of their friendship. To achieve this goal, the study tools were applied: the glotophobia questionnaire (translated by the researcher) and the friendship quality scale (prepared by the researcher) on a sample of (201) male and female stuttering university students in the governorates of (Fayoum - Beni Suef - Cairo - Giza). The average age of this sample ranged between (20.2-22.4) years, with a standard deviation of (1.03) years. As for the experimental study sample on which the treatment program was applied (prepared by the researcher), it consisted of (24) male and female students with an average age of (20.03) years and a standard deviation of (1.01) years. They were divided into: two experimental groups (a male group - a female group), and two control groups (a male group - a female group). The study results concluded that the treatment program was effective in reducing glotophobia among the study sample and improving the quality of their friendships. The results of the clinical study also revealed differences in personality dynamics among those in the extreme (high glotophobia) condition before and after exposure to the treatment program
